Amsterdam Airport Arrivals – Live Flight Status

Stay Updated with Real-Time Arrivals Information

Updated July 2026

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a single terminal built around Schiphol Plaza, about 15 km from the city and just 17 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal by train, so most arrivals are out and moving quickly. Two things shape your arrival in 2026: whether you clear passport control here, since the EU's new biometric EES applies to non-EU travellers arriving from outside the Schengen area, and how fast your bags reach the belt. Here is exactly what to expect, from landing to the platform.

Live Amsterdam Schiphol arrivals board

The board shows landing status and, once known, the baggage reclaim belt for your flight. A flight marked landed still needs taxi-in and disembarkation time, so allow a few extra minutes before you expect bags.

If the board above does not load, check the official live board at schiphol.nl

Passport control and EES on arrival

If you arrive from another Schengen country there is no passport control - you walk straight through to baggage reclaim. Arriving from outside the Schengen area, you clear border control first. Since 10 April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) records a facial image and fingerprints for non-EU travellers entering the Schengen zone, which has lengthened queues at peak times. EU and Schengen passport holders can use the e-gates, and members of Schiphol's Privium programme have dedicated fast lanes. Have your passport ready before you reach the desk.

Baggage reclaim and customs

Reclaim belts are signposted from passport control; the live board and the screens in the hall show which belt serves your flight. After collecting your bags you pass through customs: use the green channel if you have nothing to declare, or the red channel if you are carrying goods above the allowances. From there you emerge into Schiphol Plaza. If a bag is missing or damaged, report it at the baggage service desk in the reclaim area before you leave - it is much harder to resolve afterwards.

Where to meet and wait

All arrivals feed into Schiphol Plaza, the single public area under the terminal. There is a clearly signed Meeting Point, plenty of cafes and seating, ATMs and a supermarket, and a service desk if you need help. If someone is collecting you by car, the Kiss & Ride lane is for short pick-ups only; for a longer wait they should use the short-stay car park.

Getting from Schiphol to Amsterdam

The train is the quickest way into the city: the station is directly beneath Schiphol Plaza and Intercity and Sprinter services reach Amsterdam Centraal in about 17 minutes. The Amsterdam Airport Express (bus 397) also runs to the city centre, and taxis and pre-booked transfers wait at the designated ranks outside the Plaza. Buy train tickets from the yellow machines or the NS app before boarding, and tap in and out with your ticket or contactless card.

How long from landing to leaving?

A rough guide for the summer peak. Schengen arrivals with hand luggage can be out in minutes; non-Schengen arrivals with checked bags and first-time EES registration should plan for much longer.

StageWhat happens
On landingTaxi-in and disembarkation, then the walk to passport control or baggage - allow 10-20 minutes depending on your gate.
Schengen arrivalNo border control - straight to baggage reclaim.
Non-Schengen arrivalPassport control plus EES biometrics for non-EU travellers; can take 30 minutes to a few hours at peak.
Baggage reclaimTypically 10-30 minutes for checked bags to reach the belt after you arrive at it.
Customs & exitGreen or red channel, then out into Schiphol Plaza for trains, buses and taxis.

Delayed arrivals and lost baggage

Under EU Regulation 261/2004, if your flight arrives three or more hours late you may be entitled to compensation of 250 to 600 euros depending on distance, unless the delay was caused by an extraordinary circumstance; long delays also oblige the airline to provide care such as meals and, if needed, accommodation. For delayed or lost baggage, file a report at the baggage service desk in the reclaim hall before leaving and keep the reference and your tags - claims are handled by the airline that operated your flight.
